The bum and the prexy
The day turned out unlike any other. After all, it is not everyday that I find myself talking with the president of an established financial firm at about 10 am in the morning.
My best buddy took me as an assistant to his freelance webdesign sideline. Since, he has a regular job, I was tasked to meet a potential client. I was expecting to talk only with the secretary but I was ushered to wait for the president when I arrived at their office.
The guy exudes a business-like and professional aura, befitting a man of his stature. While I am fidgeting with insecurity, I never felt a hint of discrimination from him. He articulated well what he wanted from us (me & my buddy's services). On the other hand, I was surprised not knowing what aesthetic meant. Word of the day ---> aesthetic: pertaining to a sense of the beautiful or to the science of aesthetics
Well, I thought that I recover some composure as I proudly informed what we already created and who is our client. And I promised to come up with a proposal and a quotation the soonest possible time. In some ways, that was cool to be business-like and confident as well.
As the meeting was drawing to a close, he asked what were our backgrounds. When I replied that I graduated way way back, (he earlier thought I was a new grad guy) he wondered why I was not seeking greener pastures abroad.
Well, thank you Sir for the kind words. I pray I will not let you down.

After the customary handshake, he gave me his business card. Business meeting 101; Always have your business card ready. I immediately offered my honest excuse. It was a relief that he didn't mind at all and appeared understanding.
