Name the ELEVEN planets, anyone?

I was so surprised to learn that there are now eleven planets [discovered] in the solar system. My amusement inspired me to put an entry here.

According to this, we now have eleven planets. A school even had a contest for students to make a mnemonic to remember all of these according to their distance from the sun. With the nearest being first and so on.

I don't pride myself when it comes to science. But I remember during my days, which is not so long ago, there were only nine; Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. In those days, the mnemonic goes something like this:

Man Very Easily Make Joke So U Never Pee

In that same article, a 10 year old girl named Maryn Smith came up with the mnemonic for the whole eleven. Very admirable little girl! Here is the mnemonic she came up;

My Very Exciting Magic Carpet Just Sailed Under Nine Palace Elephants

The 11 planets are; mercury, venus, earth, mars, ceres, jupiter, saturn, uranus, neptune, pluto & eris.

Incidentally, the last relevant mnemonic I used was for the TCP/IP layers. It helped me answer a few items in an exam.

Please Do Not Take Shirley's Panty Away

It stands for Physical, Data , Network, Transport, Session, Presentation, Application layers of the TCP/IP model.
